Green Gold Social signs agreement with AVOH school for set up of tree nursey

We’ve officially signed an agreement with African Vision of Hope (AVOH) in Chongwe to set up a new tree nursery at their school. This is a huge step forward for our Chongwe Reforestation Initiative.

This new nursery will be the home for 20,000 seedlings, which we’ll be planting as part of our ongoing efforts to reforest Chisengu, Chikwela and Kapuka villages. AVOH has generously provided us with a 40 by 60-meter piece of land in their garden, offering the perfect space for us to take care of our seedlings.

Even more inspiring, the students from the school’s Nature Club, which we helped form, will be taking care of the seedlings. This hands-on experience will teach them about environmental stewardship and give them a direct role in protecting their community. They’ll be the primary caretakers until we start transplanting the trees in January.

In return for their incredible support, Green Gold Social will be planting native trees around the school, particularly in areas where villagers have previously cut them down. We’re also providing a small allowance to the teachers who will be involved in this project. It’s a true partnership, built on mutual respect and a shared vision for restoring degraded land around the school.

AVOH is one of ten schools where we’ve been holding climate workshops and planting trees. Its location is ideal for our project. Situated about 5 kilometers from Chongwe town, the school is close to Chisengo village, where we planted 1,500 trees earlier this year.

The school also has a constant water supply, which is critical for the success of our nursery. Plus, its central location means that all three villages where we plan to plant trees are within walking distance, making it a perfect hub for our reforestation efforts.

We’re incredibly grateful to the students, teachers, and staff at African Vision of Hope School for their partnership. Together, we’re not just planting trees—we’re sowing the seeds of a more sustainable future for Chongwe.
