About Green Gold Social

Our Mission

Green Gold Social is a Zambian non-governmental organization reforesting indegenous Zambian trees and working alongside smallholder farmers to restore degraded landscapes and strengthen rural livelihoods through agroforestry and climate smart agriculture. Our work is rooted in the lived experiences of community members, ensuring local ownership, relevance, and lasting impact.

We integrate environmental restoration with income generating opportunities, enabling women and youth to lead climate solutions while building resilient, self-sustaining rural communities.

Our Mission is to empower local communities to restore degraded landscapes through indigenous tree reforestation and to support small holder farmers, especially women and youth, to become climate resilient using sustainable agroforestry and land management practices.

Our Vision

A thriving, resilient, and self-sustaining rural community where women and youth lead and benefit from sustainable land and forest management, climate adaptation, and nature-based livelihoods.

What We Do

At Green Gold Social, we focus on three core areas:

  1. Reforestation and Community Restoration – We restore degraded land by promoting indigenous tree species through community seed collection, tree nurseries, and seasonal planting campaigns. This approach strengthens local stewardship while improving biodiversity, soil health, and carbon sequestration.
  2. Agroforestry and Climate Smart Agriculture – We build farmers’ capacity to integrate trees into their farming systems, improving soil fertility, moisture retention, and crop productivity. By reducing reliance on chemical fertilizers, farmers lower input costs while adapting to climate variability and erratic rainfall.
  3. Forest Pack Initiative – Through our forest packs, farmers access practical, affordable tools such as indigenous tree seeds, to restore their land and diversify their farms, supporting long-term food security and resilience. We also make indigenous tree seedlings available for purchase by farmers and individuals who prefer ready-to-plant options. Proceeds from forest packs and seedling sales are reinvested to support community restoration activities and advance our mission.
  4. Green Livelihoods and Income Generation – Environmental restoration also creates income. Youth earn livelihoods through seed collection and seedling grow-bag production, while women generate income from tree nursery management and seedling sales. These activities strengthen local economies while sustaining reforestation efforts.
  5. School Climate Workshops and Tree Planting – As part of our large Chongwe Reforestation Project, we hold climate workshops and plant trees in schools to foster early conservation stewardship among school going children. We have reached more than 25 teachers, 500 students and planted 300 trees in 10 schools in Chongwe.

Our Impact

To date, Green Gold Social has reached over 300 smallholder farmers, planted more than 1500 trees, and actively engaged women and youth in restoration and green enterprise. Our work has improved soil health, increased climate resilience, reduced dependency on external inputs, and strengthened community leadership in environmental stewardship. More than 50 women and young people have earned sustaible incomes from seed collection, making of grow bags and seedlings care.

All this work has moved us from a pilot project to one is going to be planting 20,000 trees in 2026 and increasing that number to 1 million trees in the next 5 years.
