30 villagers showed up and registered to get tree seedlings for planting in January.
We do not have an office yet, so for this meeting we sat on the ground outside the Chongwe High School football pitch.
The headman welcomed our Chongwe Agroforestry Initiative project where we are going to be planting Leucaena trees around maize fields to improve soil fertility and help prevent water runoff in cases where there is excess rain. The Leucaena trees will act as a live fence and help prevent flooding.
Headman Chikwela gave us the go ahead to hold meetings in his village so that we can raise awareness about climate change, reforestation and agroforestry.
We had a successful meeting with Mr Banda, the manager of Chongwe Community Radio where we introduced Green Gold Social to the radio station in hopes of signing an MOU so that the station would give us discounted rates for radio shows seeing as we are self funded and very limited on finances.
