Zambian Indigenous Tree Seed Bank
At Green Gold Social, we are building a living repository of native tree seeds that preserve biodiversity, strengthens climate resilience, and transforms ecological knowledge into sustainable livelihoods.
A Nationwide Network for Seed Collection
Our seed collection model spans multiple regions of Zambia. We partner with a network of village-based seed collectors who know their local landscapes, tree species, and seasonal cycles.

Jobs and Income for Local Communities
The seed collection network is a cornerstone of our community-centered approach, turning environmental stewardship into real economic opportunity.
Local community members, especially women and youth, earn consistent income by harvesting and selling indigenous tree seeds from forests and savannahs across the country.
In our packing centers, youth and women are trained and employed to clean, sort, and prepare seeds for storage and distribution. This creates structured green jobs linked to climate action.
Local Zambian businesses provide materials and services for packaging, labeling, and branding, further stimulating regional economies.
How the Seed Bank Works
The seed bank underpins our reforestation, agroforestry, and Forest Pack Initiatives by ensuring access to locally adapted, high quality indigenous seeds.
Seed collectors harvest seeds from native trees during appropriate seasons, following guidelines that protect the parent trees and ensure ecological sustainability.
Collected seeds are brought to regional processing hubs where trained staff clean, sort, and grade seeds by species and quality.
Seeds are securely packaged for storage and use in Forest Packs, tree nurseries, and community reforestation programs.
Seeds are stored in climate-controlled conditions to maintain viability over time, turning the seed bank into a strategic reserve for ongoing restoration.
Impact at a Glance
The Indigenous Tree Seed Bank is more than a repository, it is a biodiversity safeguard, a climate solution, livelihood engine and a knowledge bridge.
